Vicky Gresko
Vicky Gresko, Direct Sound employee and mother of John Gresko, the company founder and president, passed away. She was 83 and a unique treasure to anyone that met her. She was everyone’s “mother” and best friend at the company and kept her watchful eye on much of the day to day operations. She will be missed.
AES show
Our first time at the AES show was a wonderful experience. San Francisco is always gracious and this time was no exception. In addition to celebrating the World Series during the host city’s victory parade, we got the opportunity to acquaint ourselves to many studio and broadcast veterans. Industry icon, John King, pronounced “This is the best product at the show”. Thank you John – we couldn’t agree more.

Virgil Donati was brilliant as usual as he performed his magic at The Stage at Mozingo in Saint Louis. Everyone in attendance was amazed at how this exciting world-class drummer made the most difficult rudiments look ridiculously easy. Adding to his enjoyment, young drummer Christian M. capped off his evening by winning a set of Extreme Isolation EX-25 professional headphones that were raffled as an attendance prize. The sound of drums will rumble across North America once again on November 1 as 11 Five-Star member drum shops participate in The Big Beat and raise money for worthwhile causes. Billed as the world’s largest multi-city drum set event, last year’s Big Beat drew 1286 drummers and about 4000 spectators in nine cities, raised more than $45,000 for music and other charities and collected 7000 pounds of food.

Summer NAMM is always a good time to meet and reconnect with old friends and associates. This year was no different. Jim Riley and Travis Toy from Rascal Flatts stopped in to give us a big “thumbs up”, as did Tim Smith from Groovehouse Recording and Rob Birenbaum, manager of Five-Star Drum Shops group.
It was especially good to see the very talented Isaiah Fogle. This young, exciting drummer plays well beyond his years. Direct Sound Headphones is glad to be a contributor to Isaiah’s very bright future. The big hug John Gresko, inventor of Extreme Isolation® headphones, received from Isaiah made this year’s trip to Nashville all the more special.

September 24, 2008 - On a recent visit to St. Louis, Fred Dinkins, world renowned drum instructor and respected studio drummer, recently toured Direct Sound Headphones new manufacturing and research facility. As a teacher, Fred promotes the benefits of hearing protection and isolation to his students at the P.I.T., Musician’s Institute, located in Hollywood, California.
Fred was in town to discuss product development with Direct Sound’s marketing team and visit with John Gresko, the inventor of the Extreme Isolation brand of headphones.
