Direct Sound Achieves Superhero Status

Ok, not really…

The highly anticipated Marvel’s Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. exhibition will premier May 23, 2014 at Discovery Times Square and will run to January 4, 2015. Direct Sound EX-29 headphones were used by an All-Star lineup consisting of Senior Sound Designer Frank Serafine, Post Production Supervisor/Re-Recording Mixer Mark Edward Lewis, and Executive Producer Nick Cooper to record and mix the sound effects for the exhibit.

“One of the most difficult aspects of creating sound for the Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is finding great industrial and “other world” ambiences.” says Mark. “Fortunately, we have the entire production crew creating the exhibit in the same building. There are a lot of wonderful sounds being generated for us daily in that shop, but recording them live can be difficult, since SPL levels can be pretty high. One of the great aspects of the EX-29s are their strong isolation for the listener. Armed with our 29s, Senior Sound Designer Frank Serafine and I can go into the shop and have a very comfortable and accurate listening experience while recording the various industrial machines and drops going on daily. I know with certainty that what I record is what I hear in the EX-29s.”
